Burnt Ramen Venue For Sale
Burnt Ramen was an underground punk venue and recording studio located in Richmond, California. Established in 1998 by Mykee Ramen, Burnt Ramen became hub for the East Bay's punk scene, hosting shows and providing a creative space for artists. It was a venue where drinking was allowed, in a sketchy part of Richmond. This offered an edgy alternative to the sober and safer Gilman Street in Berkeley.
The venue operated without a license and was not regularly inspected by the city. In December 2016, following the tragic Ghost Ship warehouse fire in Oakland, Richmond city officials inspected Burnt Ramen and deemed it uninhabitable due to safety violations, leading to its closure. This as in tandem with other underground venues being closed down due to fears of another fire.
Despite efforts by former residents and supporters to address the cited violations and reopen the space, Burnt Ramen remained closed.
In early 2024 the owners of the Burnt Ramen building put the building up for sale. You can see the listing on Zillow. The asking price is $450,000 and according to the realtor listing the space offers "endless possibilities".
Do you have half a million dollars and want to own a piece of Bay Area punk history? Now's your chance!
