The Freeze

The Freeze was an American punk rock band formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1977. The band was initially composed of brothers Andrew (guitar, lead vocals) and Greg Norton (bass), and drummer Mike Mciver. The Freeze was one of the first punk bands to emerge from Minneapolis, and they quickly became a popular local act. They released their debut album, Sub Pop, in 1980 on the independent label of the same name. The album was a critical and commercial success, and it helped to establish The Freeze as one of the leading punk bands in the United States.

The Freeze's music was characterized by its fast tempo, aggressive guitars, and political lyrics. The band's songs often addressed social issues such as poverty, racism, and war. The Freeze was also known for their energetic live performances, which often included stage dives and mosh pits.

In 1981, The Freeze released their second album, Get It While You Can. The album was another critical and commercial success, and it helped to solidify the band's status as one of the top punk bands in the United States. However, the band's success was short-lived. In 1982, The Freeze broke up after a series of disagreements between the band members.

Despite their brief career, The Freeze had a significant impact on the development of punk rock music. The band's music was influential on a number of later punk bands, including Hüsker Dü, The Replacements, and Soul Asylum. The Freeze's music is still enjoyed by punk rock fans today, and the band is considered to be one of the pioneers of the genre.

In 2013, The Freeze reunited for a series of live shows. The band's current lineup consists of Andrew Norton on guitar and lead vocals, Greg Norton on bass, and David Minehan on drums. The Freeze has released two new albums since their reunion, 2014's Rebellions and 2016's This Is the Way.
