Jawbreaker
Jawbreaker was an American punk rock band formed in New York City in 1986. The band consisted of Blake Schwarzenbach (vocals, guitar), Chris Bauermeister (guitar), Adam Pfahler (bass), and Darren Terpstra (drums). Jawbreaker released four studio albums, one live album, and several singles and EPs before disbanding in 1996.
Jawbreaker's music was characterized by its fast tempos, catchy melodies, and Schwarzenbach's introspective and often dark lyrics. The band was often compared to other punk bands of the era, such as Green Day, The Offspring, and Bad Religion. However, Jawbreaker's music was also unique in its incorporation of elements of other genres, such as indie rock and emo.
Jawbreaker's first two albums, "Unfun" (1990) and "Bivouac" (1992), were released on independent labels. The band's third album, "24 Hour Revenge Therapy" (1994), was released on major label DGC Records. "24 Hour Revenge Therapy" was a critical and commercial success, and it helped to raise Jawbreaker's profile. The band's fourth and final album, "Dear You" (1995), was also released on DGC Records.
Jawbreaker disbanded in 1996, shortly after the release of "Dear You". The band members went on to form new projects, such as Jets to Brazil, The Jealous Sound, and Phantom Limb. In 2017, Jawbreaker reunited for a series of live shows.
Jawbreaker is considered to be one of the most influential punk bands of the 1990s. The band's music has been praised for its intelligence, honesty, and emotional power. Jawbreaker has been cited as an influence by many other punk bands, such as The Get Up Kids, Alkaline Trio, and Saves the Day.
