Government Issue

Government Issue is an American punk rock band formed in 1980 in Washington, D.C. They are considered a pioneer of the hardcore punk scene and have been active for over 40 years.

The band's original lineup consisted of John Stabb on vocals, Brian Baker on guitar, Marc Alberstat on bass, and Marc Dubin on drums. They released their debut album, "Legless Bull," in 1981, which was followed by a series of successful albums throughout the 1980s, including "Make an Effort" (1982), "3 Minutes at the Hive" (1983), "You Better Run" (1984), and "Freedom Now!" (1987).

Government Issue's music is characterized by its fast tempos, aggressive sound, and politically charged lyrics. The band is known for its outspoken views on social and political issues, and their songs often address topics such as war, poverty, and inequality.

Over the years, Government Issue has undergone several lineup changes, but John Stabb has remained the band's sole constant member. The current lineup includes Stabb on vocals, Tom Lyle on guitar, Steve Hansgen on bass, and Pete Miles on drums.

Government Issue has released over 10 studio albums, as well as numerous live albums, EPs, and compilation albums. They have toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe and have appeared on various television and radio shows.

Despite their long and influential career, Government Issue remains an underground band. However, they continue to perform live and release new music, and they are still considered one of the most important and influential bands in the history of hardcore punk.
