Good Throb
Good Throb was an American punk band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1979. The band was composed of vocalist and guitarist Michael Des Barres, guitarist Bassist Raymond Pettibon, and drummer Paul Roessler. Good Throb released one studio album, Better Off Dead, in 1980, before disbanding in 1981.
Good Throb's music was characterized by its fast tempo, aggressive lyrics, and distorted guitars. The band's sound was heavily influenced by the punk rock and hardcore styles that were popular in Los Angeles at the time. Additionally, the band's music video for their song "Better Off Dead" was one of the first punk rock videos to be played on MTV.
Although Good Throb only existed for a short period of time, the band's music had a significant impact on the punk and hardcore scenes in Los Angeles. The band's music was praised for its energy and originality. After the band's breakup, Des Barres went on to have a successful solo career, while Pettibon became a well-known visual artist.
In 2017, Good Throb's album Better Off Dead was reissued on vinyl by the independent record label, Gulcher Records.
