Criminal Code
Criminal Code was an American punk rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1977. The band was founded by vocalist Randy "Biscuit" Turner, guitarist Mike "Gabba" Gaborno, bassist Bob "Delaware" Dalziel, and drummer Ron "The Baron" Nagle. Criminal Code was one of the first punk bands to emerge from the Los Angeles scene, and they quickly gained a reputation for their aggressive and confrontational live shows.
The band's debut album, Criminal Code, was released in 1980 on the independent label SST Records. The album was a critical and commercial success, and it helped to establish Criminal Code as one of the leading punk bands of the early 1980s. The band followed up with two more albums, Criminal Code II (1981) and Criminal Code III (1982), before disbanding in 1983.
Criminal Code was known for their politically charged lyrics, which often addressed issues such as social injustice, racism, and poverty. The band was also known for their DIY ethic, and they often recorded and produced their own albums. Criminal Code's music was characterized by its fast tempos, distorted guitars, and aggressive vocals.
Criminal Code reunited in 1998 and released a new album, Back from the Grave, in 1999. The band toured extensively throughout the 2000s, and they released two more albums, Criminal Code IV (2004) and Criminal Code V (2007). Criminal Code disbanded for a second time in 2009, but they reunited again in 2012. The band has continued to tour and record, and they released their most recent album, Criminal Code VI, in 2018.
Criminal Code is considered to be one of the most important punk bands of the early 1980s. The band's music continues to influence punk rock bands today, and they are often cited as a source of inspiration by younger musicians.
