Absurdo
Absurdo was a Brazilian punk rock band formed in Brasília, Brazil, in 1986. The band was known for its aggressive sound, political lyrics, and confrontational live performances. Absurdo was one of the most important bands in the Brazilian punk scene of the 1980s and 1990s, and they are often considered to be one of the pioneers of Brazilian hardcore.
The band was formed by vocalist and guitarist Rodolfo Abrantes, bassist Fábio Sampaio, and drummer Eduardo Machado. They released their first album, O Futuro É a Morte, in 1986. The album was a critical and commercial success, and it helped to establish Absurdo as one of the leading bands in the Brazilian punk scene.
Absurdo released a total of four studio albums, the last of which was 2003's Para a Posteridade. The band also released a number of live albums and compilation albums. They toured extensively throughout Brazil and Europe, and they became known for their energetic and chaotic live performances.
Absurdo's lyrics often dealt with political and social issues, such as poverty, inequality, and oppression. The band was also known for its criticism of the Brazilian government and its support for left-wing causes.
Absurdo disbanded in 2006. However, the band has reunited for a number of shows since then. In 2013, they released a new EP, A Volta da Gangue.
